Erectile Dysfunction due to Obesity - How true it is?

If a disease affects the body’s metabolism, the body loses its ability to absorb glucose into cells. Glucose is used for energy in the body so when it can't be absorbed the body doesn't have any energy. A person can either be born with diabetes (type I), which is genetic, or they can get it after birth, caused by obesity, physical inactivity or other factors.

Severely overweight people are much more likely to report poor sex lives. Obesity is a risk factor or aggravating agent for approximately 30 diseases and/or conditions. It affects multiple organs such as the heart; lung; vascular skin; gastrointestinal; genitourinary system; musculoskeletal; and psychiatric. Depression, Low self-esteem, societal rejection and prejudice, lesser work and income opportunities, marital, familial, social and sexual problems add to the burden of the morbidly obese.

Sex is more likely to be impeded by anxiety than adiposity. Fat men have even less opportunity for sexual interaction. "Despite changing social and sexual norms," notes Dr. Bess, "men still are presumed to be the sexual initiators, and such fat men are inhibited from approaching woman by the fear of rejection. This reticence can lead to social and sexual isolation." Obese persons who are not able to attract sexual partners engage in normal autoerotic masturbatory activity.

In fact, a fat man should be prepared to find that his weight adds to his partner's pleasure. "The stimulating aspect of a fat man is manifested in the way he uses his weight to apply intense titillating pressure on the woman's genital area," writes Lisa Davis. "What with the physical power of most men, physical weight is not a necessity for a man to make his presence felt, but it can be an advantage.

Long-term use of alcohol, nicotine, cocaine and marijuana can also lead to Obesity and Impotency. About 3% of men suffer from a testosterone deficiency, which causes impotence. An excess of prolactin, a hormone produced by the pituitary gland, can cause the testosterone level to drop, thereby lessening the male sex drive.

In order to get rid of obesity, many physicians have recommended the following exercises:

  • Aerobic exercise: continuous for 12 to 20 minutes minimum at 80 percent maximum heart rate, six times per week.
  • The best exercise is walking. Another good routine is bicycle riding.
  • Avoid competitive sports, especially if you are obese.
  • See your medical doctor before starting an exercise program.

It is not necessary that you have to dedicate 30 minutes to 90 minutes for exercise at one time. It is perfectly Ok to break this into 10 or 15 minute increments. That way you can do some workout during lunch time and in the evening too.

The impotency which can be due to physiological reasons can be solved through the Medical Treatment. Thirty million men in the U.S. suffer from impotence or erectile dysfunction. Most often, this is the result of some underlying physical condition. Cialis has definitely caught the attention of the world’s media. Television reports, magazines, or newspapers are all filled with news of this drug’s purported ability to improve male sexual performance and virility.
