Erectile
Dysfunction and Diabetes
Erectile dysfunction is a common problem which worries
diabetes patients worldwide. If not treated at the right
time, it can create severe complications in your life.
Erectile Disfunction
is the inability to engage in sexual activity which leads
to imbalances in your relationships.
The role of Diabetes in ED
Diabetes can cause problems related to the nerves
and blood vessels. It causes neuropathy, a condition
which results in nerve damage throughout the body. It
affects your penis too disrupting everyday sexual activities
you enjoy. Since damaged nerves cannot communicate properly,
you will not be able to achieve an erection. The emotional
urge to engage in intercourse will be active but your
nerve damages won’t allow the penis to respond.
The narrow blood vessels may also get damaged. This
disallows healthy circulation of blood in and out of
the penis.
Peripheral neuropathy
Poor blood control will restrict nitric oxide production.
This will prevent pressure of blood from rising well
to close off penis veins. So when you are physically
stimulated, the blood comes out of the penis instead
of getting trapped for an erection. Your tiny blood
vessels, which nourish your nerves, can also get damaged.
The blood vessels in your body can also harden and
narrow causing Erectile Dysfunction. This condition
occurs due to problems that accompany diabetes like
cardiovascular diseases. The arteries which supply blood
to the penis get blocked restricting an erection.
