SEATTLE — Cialis, the impotence drug
from Icos and Eli
Lilly, recorded $203 million in worldwide
sales in 2003, its first year on the market
in more than 50 countries.
The drug had $94 million in worldwide sales
during the fourth quarter, with $28 million
of that coming from the United States, where
the drug became available for sale in the final
five weeks of the year.
Paul Latta, an analyst with McAdams Wright
Ragen in Seattle, said the early U.S. sales
topped his expectations and caused him to raise
his worldwide Cialis sales forecasts to $600
million this year and $1 billion next year.
Viagra, the leading impotence drug, reported
$1.9 billion in worldwide sales for 2003, an
8 percent increase over the previous year.
