Lilly Gets Frank about new Erectile Dysfunction
Drug
January 26, 2004
Plans to unveil a frank television commercial
for the erectile
dysfunction drug Cialis during the Super
Bowl.
Unlike ads for similar drugs, the Cialis commercial
actually states what medical condition it treats.
The ads feature smooth jazz and nuzzling middle-aged
couples. They highlight what manufacturers call
a major advantage over competitors Viagra
and Levitra: it lasts for up to 36 hours.
Analysts say the ad could start a multimillion
dollar advertising war among erectile dysfunction
drug makers.
The makers of Levitra also plan to launch a
new campaign during the Super Bowl.
Those ads will feature Levitra spokesman and
former Chicago Bears coach Mike Ditka.
