Lilly Planning for once-daily version of Cialis
June 25, 2007
Cialis is the drug used to cure erectile dysfunction.
This drug is showing its success as European
officials have approved a once-daily version
of impotence pill Cialis.
Eli Lilly and Co, The drug's maker, said that
the acceptance of this drug from the European
Commission meant Cialis was the first erectile
dysfunction medicine that has been cleared for
continuous use.
But till now, drugs such as Cialis and Pfizer
Inc.'s rival product, Viagra, have been taken
as needed. The new low-dose of Cialis
has been formulated, and is taken all the time,
which eliminates the need to plan sex within
a limited timeframe. It is aimed at men who
anticipate sexual activity at least twice a
week.
Lilly campaign is to start beginning the once-daily
version in certain European countries almost
in the second half of 2007.
Cialis produced worldwide sales of $266 million
in the first quarter of 2007, up 19 percent
on a year earlier. The once-daily version will
really help Lilly
distinguish its medicine from competitors.
